Darim Vision presents an MPEG4 update for SP118 boards.
This update converts on the fly a stream being captured from MPEG1 to the MPEG4 format
that reduces the bit rate value (for the same quality) by 30-50 percent. This leads to
decrease in network traffic and storage space that can be used for storing more
recorded video. Stream conversion needs some additional CPU loading (20-30%) but
this is not critical for modern P3-P4 CPUs.
A trial server-side patch isn't available now.
On a client side, for version of Spider client prior to 2.50, you should
install a patch spclump4.exe (that installs MPEG4 decoder) to get able to
view MPEG4 video data. Note, this client-side patch has no time limitation
so you may leave it installed even after the server side uninstallation
- it will not somehow influence MPEG1 mode operation.
