Roads and vehicle traffic are a key part of the day-to-day lives of people. Therefore, monitoring their conditions has received a significant amount of attention. To monitor this information intelligent transportation solution has been developed for traffic management, routing planning, safety of vehicle and roadways, emergency services, etc.
The system can be used to provide with information of traffic
level for the benefit of the traffic police, the road works
department, and ordinary users for planning a route that minimizes the number
of blocks, jams, thereby optimizing distance and
time that is most precious in today world.
The traffic monitoring solution comprises a great number of cameras installed in various highways areas, streaming servers, encoding servers, admin web and client web sites. Video data are transferred via RTSP protocol. The traffic monitoring system uses H.264 format greatly optimizing surveillance task.
The cameras track the roads conditions and report this information to encoding servers (Windows XP OS). Users from the Client web site send inquiries for viewing some cameras. These demands are transferred to the streaming servers (Linux OS) located in various geographical areas of the country. The streaming servers address the encoding servers for the information of the specified cameras and the encoding servers send the required information.
Highway admin web serves for viewing, controlling and modifying the parameters of all the components of the traffic surveillance system - cameras, streaming and encoding servers, as well as viewing the information coming from various monitoring regions and highway areas. Access is limited to the authorized persons (administrators) for controlling the operation of the traffic monitoring system.
