Darim Vision present a MPEG4 update for SP118 boards.
This update converts on the fly a stream being captured from MPEG1 to
MPEG4 that decreases bitrate (for the same quality) on 30-50 percents.
This decreases network traffic and storage space that allows to use the
same space for storing more recorded days. Stream conversion needs some
additional CPU loading (20-30%) but this is not so critical for modern
P3-P4 CPUs.
A trial (limited by time) server-side patch is available as
sp118upmp4trial.exe. It works till Jan'2004 aftewards it will
stop to capture video. After this pack uninstalling the regular (MPEG1)
version returns back. On a client side you should install a patch
spclump4.exe that installs MPEG4 decoder. Note, that this
client-side patch has no time limitation so you may leave it installed
even after server side uninstallation - it will not relate somehow on
MPEG1 mode working.
PC Snoop (PC-based Video Surveillance Products)
is a Windows screen saver that, when combined with a video capture
card and camera, enables you to monitor the area around your PC in
unattended mode. Whenever someone walks by your desk or peeks into your
monitor, the motion detection algorithm implemented by PC Snoop screen
saver will initiate video recording into compressed log file.
Alternatively, the PC Snoop may be instructed to display a greeting
message and record visitors' messages for you, just like a secretary.
Or, it can set off an audio/visual alarm that would scare off the
potential intruder just like a watchdog.

PC Snoop software works with any video capture device or USB camera that
satisfies both of the following requirements:
- Comes with native or emulated Video for Windows¢â standard capture
driver
- Supports at least one of the 16-, 24- or 32-bit RGB uncompressed
video formats at 320x240 or 160x120 resolution.
Without a serial number this demo version expires in 20 days after the
first use. Also, the video log file size is restricted to 2 MB.
SeeHawk (Standalone Video Surveillance Products)
is a very compact electronic device that connects to up to 6 video
cameras and a phone line. It enables you to monitor the area of interest
while staying hundreds or thousands miles away. All you need is another
phone, a modem connected to PC and, of course, the SeeHawk client
software..

SeeHawk software requires any modem (14.4 Kbps or faster) to be
installed and configured properly in Windows.
